In a stand-up staff meeting this morning at 7:05 am, the new principal for the upcoming years was finally announced. Greg Schwab, our former principal with us here at MTHS from 2004 until the 2016-2017 school year, was tasked with bringing staff the news.
As you all know, Mountlake Terrace High School has had an interim principal for the past year after a series of applications from several applying for the job. Students and staff have grown to know our interim principal, a man named Greg Schellenberg.
This year, a special committee met to decide on the future principal of Mountlake Terrace High School. As former principal Schwab described the process, it was “a marathon”.
“I am happy to announce,” he said after several jokes and lighthearted comments, “Greg Schellenberg as our new principal.”
His statement was met with applause from the staff as Schellenberg approached to stand before the crowd, even hugging one or two members of our staff here at Mountlake Terrace High School.
With a wish of “have a great spring break,” staff were dismissed to get to their classes before the first bell.
Greg Schellenberg has many years of school administration under his belt, having held previous titles across the world, including headmaster, assistant principal, and principal. An earlier interview with Greg Schwab done by MLTnews describes Schellenberg as “show[ing] that he values parent and community involvement.”
